Omega Ref. 2777-1 "Fat Arrow" RAF Military Watch - Full Set - Caliber 283 - 37 mm Antimagnetic Pilot Issue
A cornerstone of post-war British military watchmaking, the Omega Ref. 2777-1 "Fat Arrow" was manufactured in 1953 under Ministry of Defence contract 6B/542 and issued to Royal Air Force pilots and navigators. It was designed to meet strict MoD specifications for legibility, durability, and antimagnetic performance-qualities that made it one of the most advanced service watches of its time.
This example is among the finest known, accompanied by its original Omega inner and outer boxes, RAF issue documents, and delivery papers - a remarkably complete set seldom encountered on the open market.
The matte black "Fat Arrow" dial, with its luminous Arabic numerals and the circled "T" indicating tritium lume, remains exceptionally well-preserved. The watch is powered by Omega's Caliber 283, a 17-jewel manual-wind movement housed within a soft-iron inner cage to protect against magnetic interference - a vital advancement for RAF aircrew operating amid radar and avionics fields in the 1950s.
Cased in stainless steel, 37 mm in diameter, and engraved 6B/542 - 6645 101000 - XXX/53, the watch retains its period-correct military NATO strap and tang buckle, completing its authentic service presentation.

Collector's Value & Market Analysis
The Omega 2777-1 "Fat Arrow" stands as a pinnacle of Cold War-era tool-watch design. Built exclusively for the Royal Air Force, fewer than 6,000 examples were delivered in 1953. The "Fat Arrow" designation stems from the broad luminous arrow added when the MoD re-lumed dials from radium to safer tritium in 1956 - making these updated versions both safer and visually distinctive.
Full-set issued examples such as this - complete with boxes and RAF papers - represent the absolute top tier of collectibility.

The watch you are bidding on today is a complete set, representing the highest tier of collectibility. Hannosh's remains dedicated to bringing true time capsules of horological history to the world.
Omega Ref. 2777-1 "Fat Arrow", full RAF set - Bonhams London June 2024 - realized USD 10,800 (incl. premium).
Omega 2777-1 "Fat Arrow", watch only - Christie's Online Dec 2023 - realized USD 6,500 (incl. premium).
Based on these results, current valuations for authentic unpolished "Fat Arrow" models range between USD 6,500 - 11,000, with complete-set examples like this commanding a significant premium at the upper end of that range.
Collectors value these not merely for rarity but for their role as the direct forerunner to Omega's later Sea-master 300 military references and for housing one of the most durable 30 mm manual calibers ever built.
